In addition to the current patient care equipment “Wish List”, The St. Catharines General Hospital Foundation is dedicating the month of October to highlight our current initiatives related to breast health in Niagara.
DIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY UNIT
The Digital Mammography Unit is essential in diagnosing breast cancer in women. This new unit will provide the latest state-of -the-art technology to our healthcare professionals as well as shorten wait times, lessen exam time and improve accuracy.
The Sarah Walters Memorial Fund was established in Spring 2007 to raise funds to purchase a vital piece of equipment that will be Niagara’s first Breast Coil (with integrated biopsy capabilities) as part of an MRI system for the St. Catharines General Hospital.

DVDs FOR ONCOLOGY
In October, Larry & June Zehr delivered 15 portable DVD Players and an assortment of DVDs for the Outpatient Oncology Unit at the SCG site. This donation was made in memory of June’s parents, Eva & George Jedicki. The DVDs will help pass the time...
MEMORIAL BALL TOURNEY!
In May, the 3rd Annual Jeannette Giammarco Memorial Ball Tournament raised $2,000 for the Inpatient Oncology Unit. This successful event was organized by Laurie Melhus & Amy Giammarco, in memory of their mother and aunt, Jeannette.
We are pleased to acknowledge a recent donation from Eric Meth, which has been dedicated to the memory of his wife, Penny. This generous donation has enabled the purchase of a Chemotherapy Chair for the Oncology Unit at the SCG.
