Jesse A. Hecker Heart Function Clinic

The Jesse A. Hecker Heart Function Clinic was opened in February 2007 at the St. Catharines General Site of the Niagara Health System (NHS) to help patients diagnosed with chronic heart failure monitor and manage their conditions to improve their quality of life and avoid health-related complications.

The clinic serves an estimated five to eight outpatients a day who have been diagnosed with chronic heart failure. A multi-disciplinary team of health-care practitioners works together providing care to patients in a variety of areas, including: assessment, monitoring and treatment; pharmacological management; patient and caregiver education in such areas as medication, exercise, smoking cessation and dietary education.

The Heart Function Clinic is named after Jesse A. Hecker, whose family donated $30,000 to the St. Catharines General Hospital Foundation to establish the service in St. Catharines.

The Jesse A. Hecker Heart Function Clinic Open House took place on May 1, 2007.
