Coins for Kids

Your spare change can change lives…

Coins for Kids is a annual campaign that raises money to purchase urgently needed equipment for the Paediatric department of the St. Catharines General Hospital of the Niagara Health System. Elementary schools in the Niagara Region participate by collecting spare change over a period of time. Since its inception in 1990, more than $68,000 has been raised through the Coins for Kids program.

How Does My School or Classroom Get Involved?

Brightly coloured coin containers are distributed to your school and students are encouraged to bring in loose change.

Put your heads together and be creative! Add a little competition to Coins for Kids by challenging your neighboring classroom and see who can raise the most money.

Don’t worry, if your school is a little smaller than other schools in the city. To make sure every school has an equal chance to win, prizes are base on the amount raised per student NOT the total amount raised by the entire school.

Why Should My School Participate?

Organizers select a time frame that works best for students and staff. We provide promotional kits, including a letter of explanation to parents, posters to display at your school and a brightly coloured coin collection container. Students learn the value of giving back to their community at an early age, while supporting the purchase of patient care equipment for young adults
