![]() |
Portstock 2010 is a charity event "In Memory of Mike Wilson". This year’s feature is an amalgamation of Great Entertainment, Refreshments, Food Vendors, Silent Auction and Prizes. All proceeds to benefit the Walker Family Cancer Centre. An incredible $15,500 has been raised since the inaugural event in 2008 for the future regional cancer centre.
The future Walker Family Cancer Centre will become the hub of a coordinated regional cancer treatment network for Niagara, serving more than 2,500 Niagara residents diagnosed with cancer each year. This means that 95% of Niagara cancer patients will be able to receive their chemotherapy and radiation treatment at the Walker Family Cancer Centre; allowing them to make this challenging personal journey here in Niagara.

An outstanding $14,000 was raised at the 2nd Annual Portstock Festival for the future Walker Family Cancer Centre on September 6, 2009. Event organizers Dianne Warkentin and Mike Howe were delighted that 700 rock fans gathered together on Henley Island in memory of her brother and his friend, Mike Wilson. Portstock in 2009 was an amalgamation of blues, rock, funk, soul and world music, performed by Australian singer/songwriter "Harper". A local Port Dalhousie born and raised, Phys Jenkins was invited to join Toronto’s Clifton David Band for a few songs as they rocked the joint with songs from Jimmy Hendricks and Led Zeppelin. |
