2009 Portstock Music Festival

  Portstock Festival a Rocking Success!

An outstanding $14,000 was raised at the 2nd Annual Portstock Festival for the future Walker Family Cancer Centre on September 6, 2009.  Event organizers Dianne Warkentin and Mike Howe were delighted that 700 rock fans gathered together on Henley Island in memory of her brother and his friend, Mike Wilson.

This year’s feature was an amalgamation of blues, rock, funk, soul and worl music, performed by Australian singer/songwriter "Harper".  A local Port Dalhousie born and raised, Phys Jenkins was invited to join Toronto’s Clifton David Band for a few songs as they rocked the joint with songs from Jimmy Hendricks and Led Zeppelin.

Steve Dumont, pictured on the left, agreed to cut off his 12" long hair for donations toward the Walker Family Cancer Centre.  Individuals who donated were then invited on stage to cut off a lock of hair.
Congratulations Steve for raising $2,500!
